HELP, Ignition Timing By MOVING The Distributor Nissan

1993 nissan quest gxe VG30E V6 Hi, my car is lacking power and the idle is not normal. Everytime I accelerate and then depress the pedal (going from 0mph to 2nd gear, and sometimes even in 1rst gear), the REVs go crazy! They go up to lets say I accelerate to 25mph, when I depress the pedal, the REVs go: 1000rpm to 350rpm to 1000rpm then again to 350 rpm and ends in normal idle speed which is 750rpm. An AIR LEAK ...

Advance Or Retard Ignition Timing With Knock Sensors

I have no distributor. I would like to advance my ignition timing. I read that the ECU will advance the spark until it detects knock, then it will retard a degree. Why then does my manual say to use 87, and using higher than that won't give me any benefit? Also, later on I would like to increase my compression ratio, will the ECU retard the ignition timing when it detects knock then? ...

How do I make the changes to my ignition timing permanent? I have short-circuited the E1 and TE1 terminals on the diagnostic box, and also made sure the car was at operational temperature. The timing adjustments stick for the day you change them, but seem to revert back to the previous setting after a day or 2. Any help will be appreciated. The car was in diagnostic mode (regular flashes for the entire time E1 and TE1 were short circuited). Will it be a good idea ...

Also, i dont see the distributor cap rotatable - to be able to adjust the timing. It has 2 bolts on the cap which holds its against the distributor aluminum body. Please suggest. I want to see the timing advances with RPM and temperature, which i think should be the ideal case to avoid knock. ...
