Question: Can You Weld Sheet Metal With Flux Core Wire

Is It Possible To Weld Sheet Metal With A Wire Welder

I have a flux core wire welder. It has about 5 or 6 amperage settings. I tried welding some sheet metal together at the lowest setting, but it just blew a hole in the metal. I was just trying to practice, and it was really thin metal, but is my machine just going to be too strong to do it? I want to weld in rocker panels and cab corners on my truck. I should add that I welded some 1/8 or ...

Need Help Finding Preshaped Replacement Cab Corners And More Sheet Metal

I have a 1993 Ford F150 Supercab that has typical cab corner rust and rear fender rust (truck is not a flareside). I was wondering if anyone could give me a link to a site that sells pre-shaped sheet metal pieces for these two areas. Or can anyone tell me what type of metal I would need to buy to make my own and where I could get it, like home depot? ...

Can I Turn A Flux Core Welder Into An Arc Welder

My machine has a (+) post that the torch is connected to. Can I just take the spool off, disconnect the torch, and in it's place put a wire and rod holder? Or is an arc welder voltage / frequency / something else different? I know this is kinda going backwards, but it seems like it would allow me to make deeper welds and also work with different rods for Al and Stainless without gas. Can I do this? ...

What Is The Difference Between A Complete Engine And A Engine Core

I am in the process of removing another engine from a car and installing another engine assembly. I never 100 percent knew what the Core engine was. I could be wrong but is the core engine just the block of the engine without any gaskets or anything? I have a engine that threw a rod but other then that everything else on the engine is still great. So if the engine core is just the lower block then shouldn't I be ...

Something Is Different With Changing My Spark Plugs On My New Car. What Is It

I'm trying to change my spark plugs on my 99' Jetta. The end connected to the spark plug has a long metal shaft around the spark plug and I have to believe extended out past it.
