Question: Brakes Grind When Backing Up

I Have A 2000 Sentra 1.8 S And I’m Wondering Why My Brakes Make This Noise

I have a 2000 Nissan Sentra 1.8 S (manual transmission). It has approx 72K miles and the brakes are in relatively good condition. I've noticed that after I've driven some distance (usually only after going 4 or more miles) my front brakes will occaisonally make a noise that sounds like there is gravel between the pad and rotor. This is NOT a constant occurance. The following things all happen when the noise is present: They only make the noise when I come ...

Why Do My New Rotors/brakes Grind

So I just did the brakes on my 2000 Nissan Sentra GXE 1.8 (rear drum). I put on wearever rotors (not the cheapest atleast) and wearever gold pads (semi metallic). After I first began driving the passenger one began to grind, but than after 100 miles it went away. Now my drivers side does it, but has been for 250 miles. I checked everthing, and nothing is backwards, and everything is on correctly. One strange thing is that there was no ...

Weird Noise From Rear Brake. Please Help

Hello! I just changed new aftermarket brake pads on my 1997 Maxima. Then I heard weird noies from right rear everytime I hit brake. The sound is like grind, grind, grind. I went to an auto shop to check out the problem. The guy told me to change back to new original Nissan pads for 120 dollars. He said that may solve the problem. But not guarantee. So should I go for it? Any comments are welcome. Thank you. ...

My Car Makes Grinding Noises When I’m Backing Up

I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse with 105,000 miles on it. For the past year or so, it has occasionally made these odd grinding sounds from the rear when I start the car and put it in reverse, and continues to make the grinding noise until I've stopped moving backward and put the car in "drive". The car jerks a bit when it does this, as if it's idling too low and is trying to die, but it *never* ...

Why Do The Brakes Grind On My 2002 Mitsubishi Galant ES

I have a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant ES. It has 45,000 original miles on it. Everytime I brake at a stop sign or a red light or whatever, I hear a loud "whirrrrrrr" sound coming from my brakes combined with a rough grinding. I'm pretty sure it's coming from the front of the car. I have brand new brake pads and rotors on the car so I'm not sure why this is happening. Anyone know what's going on? ...

Car Problems Faulty Brakes, Spark Plugs, Distributor Cap…

Alright... a couple months ago I got into a minor accident and ever since then, the Check Engine light has been on. I took it to Goodyear and they said the spark plugs were misfiring [we deemed it untrue at the time because if that were true, then the car wouldn't run, would it?], the anti-freeze was leaking [a lie, since there were no puddles under the car] and some other thing. Lately, whenever I go to start my car, it ...
