Hey gang, I need new front brake pads, rotors, and my mechanic is throwing in a tune up and new plugs for 360 dollars. Is that a reasonable deal? He said the rotors cost a bit more because I have a Hyundai and they are spindles ...

I just had new brake pads put on my car and the mechanic said I shouldn't/don't need to turn my rotors because they are heavy duty ported/slotted rotors and I'd be shortening the life of the rotors. Did he scam me or was it good advice? ...

Also, would it be worthwhile to upgrade the brakes to something that would last longer? Since I got the car, I've been replacing both almost every 1.5 years. Perhaps I'm retarded but I thought they lasted longer so would upgraded rotors/pads ...

I know what your thinkin."Don't be cheap,just have the old rotors turned it dont cost much".Yes i kinow this.Anyway does it really hurt anything to put new pads over the old rotors even if the rotors havent been turned.The rotors do NOT have any large grooves ...
