What would happen if u put a diesel exhaust system on a, gas Chevy 1500 truck?

    For one thing the diesel does not have a catalytic converter. You probably don’t care about that. But there are systems on the engine that require some back-pressure that the catalyst and tubing size provides. It’s best to use an exhaust system that is designed for the engine and vehicle configuration that it is being installed onto. The combustion temperatures may rise to a point where detonation (pinging) occurs and could result in damage to the pistons or cylinder heads.

    If you are going for higher performance this is not going to help.

    If you put a diesel exhaust on a gaoline engine you will not have enough back pressure to monitor flow and close the valves properly. Since the diesel engine typically has a compression ratio anywhere from 13:1 to 19:1, sometimes even more, it needs a less restrictive exhaust system
