My Truck Seems To Have A Ticking Sound Especially When I Accelerate. It Is A GMC 2500 HD Diesel 2004 Model.

Last winter I started up my truck without using the engine heater, it was about -20 degrees, and started making a rough sound when it started up, but when it warmed up a little, the rough sound went away. I might just be a little paranoid, but I am wondering if this could have damaged something in my engine, because I think I have a little ticking like sound coming from the engine, especially when I accelerate. To my best knowledge it sounds like an exhaust leak near the maifold or a valve or something. Please help.

You will know what it is when in breaks…

Honestly, it could be a number of things. As I started reading your question I thought exhaust manifold.

The cold weather will cause the oil, power steering fluid to be super thick. I started a Dodge at about -10*F without the block heater, it loped and rose all sorts of hell; the power steering and hydroboost brakes were useless for about 15 minutes.

The ticking could be a number of things, could be the power steering pump. Could have an internal problem. Have a good diesel tech listen to it and see what they say. Maybe your paranoid, maybe you actually have a problem.
