If I Put A Performance Chip On My Dodge 2500 Diesel, Do I Need To Put On A 4 Exhaust

I have a K&N air filter with a cold air box, but I didn’t know if it would cause problems if I left on the same exhaust. The chip will give about 90 more horsepower.
It is a 2003 model.

What year of diesel do you have?
If you have a 2004.5 and up you already have a stock 4 inch turbo back exhaust. The 2003 to 2004 have 3.5 inch turbo to muffler and 4 inch from muffler to tail. 2002 and older CTD I believe had 3 or 3.5 inch stock exhaust.
A just added a 4 inch pipe from my turbo back with a free flow muffler (diamond eye). However, 2004.5 and up did have a cat and most guys I have talked to replaced the cat with a more free flow cat (Aero) and added a free flow muffler.
As long as you have a CAI, free flow muffler and cat this should drop your EGT’s which is a killer on turbos when you are towing or add the powerchip. I would seriously look at getting a pyrometer placed (pre-turbo) to keep an eye on your EGT’s (exhaust gas temps) to ensure they are not going to cook your Turbo as I have seen up to 1200F on my Juice Attitude monitor on level 3 when I get on the go pedal.
you dont need it but its better for it and will increase your hp and mpg if you do that and you dont need a fancy setup either you can just run a straight pipe and mine is 5inch it sounds awsome
