Well the gas would smoke the diesel. Now if you had a pulling contest or race under extreme load then the diesel would win out but not in any unloaded speed race. As for what the race would look like well two big turtles racing would be apt.
depends on too many variables my quad cab 3500 turbo diesel has a complete banks set up , intercooler on back with a garret t-6 turbo producing 28 lbs of boost making just under 600 hp on the dyno. 0-60 in 5.85 seconds and runs the eight mile in 8.12 seconds at 82 mph. not bad for a 10,000 lb truck I have dismissed srt 10s and Hemi rumble bees with it on the eighth mile it will fall flat after that running a dismal 15.85 at 94 in the quarter mile where as my Dakota runs a 9.01 76 mph eighth mile but runs a 14.11 at 101.02 mph in the quarter and the dakota is only a 318 both are 1997′s
