Where Is The Thermostat Located On A 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Posted in Cooling Perfomance | Asked on May 24, 2010

I have a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue GL 3.5L V6 that is having minor problems with overheating. My guess is the thermostat is sticky and probably needs to be replaced. I’m just wondering if anyone knows where it’s located because I can’t seem to find it. Thanks!

under the bell housing where the big black rubber upper radiator hose connects to the engine. Look up the thermostat for your make year model on http://www.autozone.com ^(http://www.carparts21.com/goto/http://www.autozone.com) and click on component location and installation.

The thermostat on most engines is locate in the water outlet housing where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine but on some engines it is located in the water inlet housing where the lower radiator hose connects to the engine. Your engine is one of those with the thermostat located in the water inlet housing where the lower radiator hose connects to the engine. Follow your LOWER radiator hose to where it connects to the engine and remove and replace the housing which it connects to. The thermostat is an integral part of that housing and so you will need to replace the housing. The water inlet housing and thermostat assembly looks like this:
