So which would provide more stock horsepower and torque with no extra add-ons like turbo/supercharger, intercoolers, etc.

    v8 cause it could be revved higher due to lighter pistons (assuming both engines design is identical)

    i think the 4.0 v-6 probably would do this,because it turns a lot more rpm,s than the v-8 does,so you could probably produce a lot more horse power with little modifications to it ,but in the long run the v-8 would over power it, just my opinion though ,but i have seen some real good running v-6,s.good luck and have a good one.

    i would have to say the v8 because the v8 has 2 more cyl. to share the torgue and the combustion for the pistons that turns the cam shaft

    there are two more cylinders firing on a v8 so more hp will be produced and more rotating mass so more torque
