Ive got it on a portable charge in my garage , and its been plugged in for 24 hrs now
the charger has 2 settings , 1 amp or 4 amp and a meter that goes all the way up to 6
i set it on 4 amp and left it there all night and the meter now reads about 2.5
there are no instructions with the charger so I guessed setting 4 since its a 650 cca battery

Maintenance of the battery is very important specially during the winter season. Charge the battery during the whole night @ low amperage(make sure you do the maintenance according to the car’s manual and recommendations), and if you have the time check the terminals for resistance(again, follow the recommendations from the manual). I recommend that you check the fuel pump also, just in case.
You will know the battery is fully charged when the electrolyte solution in the battery has a specific gravity of 1.270 This can be measured by using a hydrometer or refractometer. All you are doing is comparing the exact weight of the electrolyte solution with that of water. A charged batteries electrolyte solution is heavier than a discharged batteries solution since all of the sulfuric acid is in the water and not absorbed into the plates of the battery. There you go, easy as you please and it didn’t even cost you.
