Also, does it matter where I connect the ground? I’ve read to neg terminal and some say somewhere else on the car.

    Technically
Red to positive, Green to Negative, I hope you know this much.
Let it charge until fully charged.
Use meter to check when done

Connect it to the battery. The somewhere else on the car rule applies to jump starting a car with jumper cables.

Disconnect the battery first, then charge , check the meter it will tell you when it’s fully charged.

To recharge your car battery, you should check to see that each cell has enough electrolyte to cover the internal plates. If the battery is really dead, you will need to charge it slowly for at least 8 hours. A battery is fully charged when you measure 14.2 Volts D.C. across the “+” to “-” terminals. Your battery charger has a 10 AMP rating which is the maximum current the charger can output at any given time. A good battery will drop 3 to 4 volts across the terminals when you try to start the engine. A bad battery will likely fall to zero volts if there is an internal short circuit. You can connect the negative battery terminal to the neg. post or to a nearby grounded spot on the engine.
