The car would have to be sitting for months for an unused charger to run down a car battery.
The only energy it’s using is to light up the tiny led that lets you know it’s plugged in.
    Energy use is minimal

No problem. The circuitry inside the charger would only “leak” a little power, such as the LED. The battery would die from old age before it would run it down.

No, but I’ve heard of the plug overheating and catching fire. I don’t know how long it was left in the car. It shouldn’t run down the battery though.

Your car battery wont even notice. Wont hurt it at all. Mine stays in there 24/7. Of course, the charger is off when the engine is off on my car, but if yours stays ON, I KNOW it wont hurt the battery, but it’s probably best to pull it.
