it is best if u take battery out check the water lvl and then charge it but……yes u can charge them in the car without unhooking battery …
Most cars it doesn’t matter but a few cars it will seriously screw up if you do that. Next time list your year, make and model then i can help a lot more
hank is correct MOST will be ok on charger..but some electronics dont like High/low voltage,,,,safe bet is disconnect 1 cable,,,or go for it
You certainly can do that.
I’ve never disconnected a car battery to charge it, unless the battery is completely useless, it should prevent the charger putting to much voltage or ripple on the car electrical circuit, and the small amount of power used by a clock etc. will not prevent charging.
Also, if you disconnect, then unless the battery was already dead flat, you may have to reset a coded radio (if it was totally out, then you may need to do that anyway).
if you are using what,s known as a trickle charger output would be say maximum of 4 amps it,s fine if you were to try and use say a boost charger which puts out say 20 amp,s you will need to disconnect the battery as you risk alternator damage , with a trickle charger it is save to leave it on for say 8 hours as it has a regulate effect to avoid overcharging the battery
