How Does A Manual Car Battery Charger Work

Posted in Car Batteries | Asked on Apr 8, 2010

I keep forgetting my lights on, my battery dies, have to find someone to boost me or use my AMA. I want to buy a battery charger, but there seems to be 2 kinds: automatic and manual. What is the difference? How do they work? Do you need to plug them into an electical socket? Where do they get THEIR power from? How long does it take to charge a battery from one of those things, anyway?

Anyone with mechanical expertise, I could really use your help here, ’cause I am automotively illiterate!

Portable jumpstart may be all you need.
But if you want a charger most have the option of manual or automatic….automatic , you can just turn it on go to bed and it will slowly charge your battery and should shut off when your battery is charged….manual it will not shut off and can make your battery boil over if left for too long but you have the option to change the charge settings so it will charge faster or you can set it to boost your vehicle off.
