Accessories Battery In My Car
Posted in Car Batteries | Asked on Apr 27, 2010I live in the country and we go to parties at fields and ponds a lot and i have a sound system so my car is usually used for music. Now the problem is i have two amps and i don’t want to drain my main car battery but I don’t want to install a permanent secondary battery and buy a diode isolator and all that junk. So i’m thinking i should just bring along an extra car battery and connect it directly to the two amps. And then when i go home the next day i just charge the battery on the car battery charger.
What are your thoughts on this??
Will this damage the battery???
Any better ideas??
thanks for your time.

i really wouldnt suggest just using a battery but i must say look into optima yellow tops and kinetic batteries
That is a possible way to do it. Just know the spare battery may not last very long.
just make sure the extra one is a deep cycle battery or marine battery as these types are designed to handle being discharged and charged over and over.
If you do this continuously on your car’s main battery, it will do permanent damage to it, and you’ll regret that.
If you want your car’s battery to perform to the very end, get an Optima Yellow Top battery, they perform like champions all the way to the last bit of juice. If you’re thinking about going with a secondary battery to run just the amplifiers and then recharge them later, then go with an Optima Blue or Red top battery, they are better with charging and discharging.
