Throttle Body Spacers

Posted in Air Intakes System | Asked on Apr 15, 2010

I was cruisin’ eBay and ran across Throttle Body spacers for 1995 5.7L GM’s. They stated it would increase horsepower and gas mileage. Is this true? If so, how does raising my TBI an 1/2 inch acheive this??

gives the fuel more time to mix as well as cool….usually only good for 1-3 horses…..

It doesn’t give the mixture time to cool, gains can actually be made by having the air/fuel heat up by this point in the system to encourage the fuel to evaporate to increase atomisation, its more to do with air speed and for many systems resonance tuning (I don’g claim to be an expert in this so wont try to explain it lol)

However to really generalise it, shorter TB’s tend towards higher power at high RPM, longer TB’s tend towards increased torque. Either way it is a compromise so you can increase one but will decrease the other at the same time

TBI spacers are like cold air intakes, and most other so called bolt on performance parts. They don’t really do that much, but anyone you that has instlled one will not admit they just spent 200 bucks for nothing.
