1999 Dodge Durago Caliper

Posted in Air Intakes System | Asked on Jan 20, 2012

Hi All,
I had the manifold intake redone on the right side of my 1999 dodge durango. I started hearing a rubbing noise on that side when the brakes are pressed. After about a month I thought that something was stuck in the breaking system like a twig or something. I have breaks done about a month before the manifold so I doubted that it was break pads.

I decided to take the front wheel of myself and there was all this grinded material inside my rim and all over the caliper and discovered that when the break in pressed in it rubs on the upper edge of the caliper.

Unfortuanatly I can’t bring it to the same dealer because I live 3000 miles away but I am wondering if they put the caliper on crooked or dropped the truck off the list and the rim got bent.
Then what if they took the struts and other parts off to get to the manifold and they put it back crooked.

The sound is not all the way around rim it does skip. If that makes sense.

If anyone has ideas let me know.

You need to take that one in to a shop and let them diagnose it for you,it sounds like one of the bolts is loose or had fallen out that holds the caliper on ,and like you said a possible bent rim, that’s an odd situation, never seen it happen before just from changing brakes, something had to have come loose or got bent ,good luck.
