Will An IPod With AAC Files Work With A Car Stereo With Mp3/wma Playback

Posted in Car Electronics | Asked on Mar 26, 2011

I am talking specifically about a Kenwood KDC-MP142 player. It doesn’t really matter to me if I will be able to control the iPod through the deck. I just want to know if the songs will play at all.

It should work if you’re just using an aux cable it will play that sound through the stereo the ipod control might work as well

I know I could listen to movies on my ipod with the ipod controller

Yes. Anything you can play on your Ipod will work on that deck. That deck has a front aux port. You will need something that will plug into the 1/8″ jack on the front. If you don’t have the 1/8″ Ipod cable you will need something like this. http://www.ramelectronics.net/ipod-mp3/ipod-cables/i-extreme-ipod-docking-to-mini-plug-cable/prodIFEPDM.html The mp3/wma playback on stereos just indicates the deck is only capable of decoding mp3/wma. When you connect the Ipod to the aux port the Ipod does the decoding and outputs the analogue signal to the 1/8″ jack on your deck. So all your deck does is provide amplification.
