My Car Stereo Resets When I Turn My Engine Off

I bought a sony cd/mp3 head unit for my car and i set the time up and the radio stations etc.. but when i turned off my car engine and removed said unit from the car and returned shortly after the head unit had erased my saved data. and am back to square 1.. why did this happen?

Sounds like you don’t have the memory wire hooked up correctly.
You must have failed to connect the wire that supplies constant voltage to the head unit, even when the ignition is off.
There are 2 power wires on your head unit one is hot in the on postion the other should stay hot at all times.if it doesnt stay hot at all times it will lose your memory.im not sure what color it is i would have to go look at my headunit to remember but thats the problem.
Car steros have two power connections. One is switched, so the stereo turns off when you turn the car off. The other is unswitched so that the memory won’t be lost when you stut off the car. Make sure the unswitched power connection goes to a constant power supply (this is often marked “batt” on the fuse block.
