15 MA Audio Subwoofer And 1000 Watt Alpine MRPm500 Amp Sound Quality
Posted in Car Electronics | Asked on Jan 26, 2012Ive got a 1992 Jeep Cherokee (2door) and I found a good deal on 15″ MA audio subwoofer and 1000 watt Alpine MRP-m500 amp. It has a pioneer deck already. I was wondering how this system would sound. How loud (and quality) will it be? Also, how hard it will be to install myself, I know a little bit about audio, but havent done a car stereo before. Thanks guys.

Not hard to install, the issue is getting through the firewall for the 12V from the battery to the amp.
It’s going to be loud! Because you have an open space (no trunk) it’s going to be very “boomy”. You would get a a tighter cleaner bass from 1 10″ in a sealed box. You will get different sounds from different enclosures. If you are going to add a sub I would highly encourage upgrading the stock speakers. You will have 6 12″ in the doors…probably the best size four acoustics. If you don’t your bass will overpower them, and to compensate you will have to turn up the stock speakers so loud they will distort.
Just to let you know, the mrp-m500 is a 500 watt amp at 2ohms 300 at 4ohms, i hav one running my alpine type R. the mrp-m1000 has 1000watt power. anyway the sound quality is great. it’s not that hard to hook up you all ready got a deck, so you just need an amp kit, you run the power wire from ur battery to where ever you want ur amp to be make sure you have fuse close to battery, then RCA cables from deck to amp and remote wire from back of deck to amp, ground amp to metal frame of ur vehicle
Its not hard at all, it took me only 10 minutes to plane where i was going to drill a hole through my firewall, with careful planning to not hit any electrical wires or gas tubes.
