Is It True Kia’s Can Only Be Serviced By The Dealer

Posted in Headlight Bulbs | Asked on Jul 21, 2011

Im considering buying a Kia Forte Koup loaded, leather, navi w/ bluetooth, heated seats, sunroof, push button start, auto headlights. and what not. They are so cheap, and so stylish. I heard that they can only be serviced by a dealer, AND even oil changes must be done there! Is this true? Because if so i may reconsider. I may have to go get a bare honda civic with nothing on it, instead of my loaded kia for the same price.

Not every one knows about those puppies that is why, you can take it to others also

No, but you have to keep all your receipts. Kia requires 3000 mile oil changes, whch means 33 services during the 100K mile warranty. Reliability is the pits. My daughter-in-law spent more in non-covered repairs and scheduled maintenance than in payments during the first three years of ownership.

No, I service Kias all the time.

I get Kias in that are “Log Book” services which means they are brought in when at a specific mileage or age (Eg – Must be serviced at 10,000km or at 6 months since purchase – whichever comes first), and must be stamped with the Company’s stamp in the book.

Depending on the warranty, you might have to have your car serviced at a KIA dealer.
Some warranties can become void if you have your car serviced anywhere but at a KIA dealer.
