Is A Volvo A Good Car For A Teen
Posted in Headlight Bulbs | Asked on Dec 2, 2011Okay…. so I’m about to get my license soon, and I’m in love with the Volvo sedans (you can thank the headlight wipers on their models)…. my parents think i should get a honda or a civic, but are they right? i have roughtly $4,400 that i can spend for a car, and so would a Volvo be a good choice? I was thinking the 850 model, unless i can find a cheap s-series…. are they reliable? good gas mileage? And what should be the maximum number of miles i should buy it at?
last…. if volvos AREN”T good cars, what would you recemmend for a new teen (girl) driver? are mercedes or BMW’s any good? once i don’t have a bunch of money, i’d have to probably stay with cars that were made in the late ’90s.
thanks!

Volvo, Saab, Audi, MB, BMW all are very expensive to own and repair.
Honda & Toyota have the best history for reliability and low repairs.
for $4,000
look for
98 Acura CL, 98 Ford Mustang V6, 98 Honda Accord or Civic, 98 Nissan Frontier or Pathfinder, 98 Subaru Impreza or Legacy, 98 -00 Toyota Corolla or Echo 00
these are all reliable and will last longer than other cars in this price range
these might not be a nice or “classy” as a Volvo but it will cost you less to own them.
Although expensive to repair, a Volvo is a safe car for a first time driver. You may want to look at the 240- its a tank and its more reasonable to repair as opposed to the 850.
They are safe, but expensive to maintain. The best thing would be to get a used Honda or something like your parents said. A used Impala or Grand Prix with the 3800(3.8 litre V6) would also be good.
850s and S70s are extremely realiable but stay away from the s60/s40/s80
850s are great first cars really safe…Look at cars with under 60,000 miles
I have seen 850s get 200,000+ miles
My 2000 S70 has 117,500miles on it now and i bought in with 67,000 miles
