I Can’t Figure Out How To Change My Headlight Honda Civic EX 2005
Posted in Headlight Bulbs | Asked on Jan 1, 2011The bulb I bought has 2 prongs and everything looks completely different than the old bulb. But I looked it up and supposedly it’s the right bulb (9006). The inside of the car looks nothing like the manual says when I look at how to change the bulb. Anyone have any experience with this particular model? Thanks
Thanks for the answers!
I actually figured out that it was because I thought the car was a 2005, but it’s really a 2003. So with the RIGHT bulb, I got it to work. Thanks

Pop the hood
Reach in behind the headlamp in question.
Locate plastic ring
Give plastic ring a turn–it will only turn one way
Pull bulb and ring out
Unplug old head light.
Take new headlight out of package–do not touch the glass
If you touch the glass clean it with rubbing alcohol.
Plug new head light in.
Put plastic ring and headlight back in.
Turn ring until it locks in
That’s it.
The 9006 is a capsule bulb. That means you change if from the back. Open the hood and look down to where the back of the headlight is. It might be hidden by sheetmetal, etc.
The old bulb will have a wire plugged into the back. pull that wire off by squeezing the tabs. Turn the old bulb (rotate) until it stops and pull it out. Put the new one in without touching the glass part with your bare fingers (body oil)
Plug the wire back in and you should be good to go.
