How To Handle A Small Fender Bender Accident
Posted in Headlight Bulbs | Asked on Oct 23, 2011I was rear ended this morning in my 2006 dodge ram 1500 by a honda civic that slid into me at the stoplight because of the snowy conditions.
Only damage to my truck is a dent in the bumper and it is pushed in, the honda needs some cosmetic work, quater panel, hood and headlight.
Wondering what is the best way to handle this without claiming it on my insurance. Or it going on my driving record, I just had a accident about 4 months ago that I had to claim.

If you were rear-ended, how is this your fault? It is the other driver’s responsibility to have your vehicle repaired. You should be able to get that done without contacting your agency. The adjuster should be around shortly to take a look.
Be sure you get a copy of the police report.
If they ran into you then they are responsible for the damages. Did you file a police report?
If the accident was not your fault, my suggestion is to turn it in. It will not affect your insurance at all, and think about what will happen if the other guy DOES and you didn’t.
For example in California any accident over a certain value must be reported within a set time limit. No report = the possibility of a citiation and a license loss.
Alternate is to call the other driver, agree on who is to blame, and get a cash settlement. If you do that, you BOTH should sign releases for damages and injuries (assuming no one is injured).
