Do You Think My Car Will Be Totaled

Posted in Headlight Bulbs | Asked on Nov 2, 2011

This asian lady was passing me on the right and clipped the side of my car and messed up my fender and bumper as well as destroying my front headlight
her insurance will be paying for it and I didn’t think it would be that bad but my friend told me because of all the miles I have on my car (120,000 miles) that their insurance might total it!?
the car is a 2003 Honda Civic EX, i’ll try to get a picture

NEVER NEVER NEVER let the other guys insurance call the shots. (unless you dont have collision)
Contact your insurance company and determine the wholesale value of your car. If the repair exceeds the value, they may total the car and pay “reasonable replacement cost”
Contact your insurance company in any case.

There is no WAY they would total that,120,000 miles is not alot for a Honda,It maybe high for the year,But no,If they try to Total it,get the book value of the car,and buy it back for a fraction of the price and fix it yourself,I can not see that costing any more than a grand to fix and get painted,You just need a new headlight assembly,a little bondo and paint.

Of course it won’t let you submit a link, you’re a level one.

And your prejudice is showing. Otherwise you wouldn’t have thought it necessary to mention the ethnic group of the person who hit you.

Once the adjuster comes and looks at the damage, they will then let you know if they intend to pay for fixing it, or if they intend to total it and give you fair market value. None of us are able to tell you that from a picture.
