Am I Still At Fault Even Though She Yielded Twice

Posted in Headlight Bulbs | Asked on Oct 25, 2011

So i was behind two vehicles in a lane that had a divider to turn right at a light..first car leaves, and then the second vehicle move at the same time, so it advances and stops at the middle of the divider…i saw the vehicle in front of me, i was at a complete stop…the vehicle started moving forward, at that moment i looked at the traffic…it wasn’t moving..since i saw the vehicle move forward i started to advance forward as well to get where she was at because i thought she left, while still looking at the traffic because i noticed that it was starting to move, naturally as i was advancing forward slowly i kept looking at the traffic, i wanted to get to the end of the divider, then i heard like a scratching noise that sounded like the bumper was rubbing against the end of the divider..i looked forward and i didn’t see the vehicle in front of me until i looked to my far right, then i saw the vehicle, she was way too close to the main street…the right side of my bumper got damaged, headlight is fine, but fender was pushed back into the door…2007 honda civic and the other vehicle is a chevy suburban..only a kinda big deep dent on the very corner of her bumper…aren’t there some kinda rules like not appropriately yielding??? and i know that its like 99% if its a rear end collision in texas, automatic fault…buuuut under certain circumstances??

Yes, you’re at fault. Next time, make certain that you there is NO car in front of you before you hit the gas. Also, use punctuation.

It is your responsibility to be in control of your car no matter what the other driver is doing

    Yes and you’re unfortunately right.

The second car at the intersection, (you) must wait for the other vehicles in front of you, to clear the street, and then move forward and yield to traffic.

Remember the two main things to have in mind when driving, observation and good judgement.
    Good luck.
