A Fuse Keeps Blowing In My Car….. Wtf
Posted in Headlight Bulbs | Asked on Sep 17, 2011I recently (about 4 months ago) bought new after-market taillights for my 1997 Honda Civic LX. The car has two fuses for the taillights, one under the dash and one under the hood, the 15A fuse under the hood is the one that is constantly blowing out. My thinking is that the 15A fuse is too small for the new tailights because they light brighter. Is it ok if I put a 25 or 30 Amp fuse in its place.
If it helps any i do have many electricals running through the car. I have new headlights, which one of them has condenstaion in them wtf!! I also have two 10” speakers on a 1200W amplifier, fog lights, and lights inside the car under the seats. I dont think these have any effect on the tailights but I am not too savvy on electricity.

The best thing you could do is to quit wiring crap to your car, unless you know what you are doing.and i suggest if you do it anyway, buy a fire extinguisher.and no is the answer to your question.the cicuit is designed to use a 15 amp fuse,so installing a bigger fuse can cause an overload on that circuit, possibly causing a fire.
Put a 20amp fuse in there but if it blows, check for a naked wire somewhere
If everything else is working correctly then is not affecting the tail lights. I recommend you put a 20amp fuse and if it blows check your tail lights for any stripped wire…
