Replacing The Oxygen Sensor In A 1997 Honda Civic

I need to replace the oxygen sensor in my 1997 Honda Civic. The location is as the front of the exhause manifold. I was looking at purchasing the part, but I am not sure what one to buy. Do I buy the the part specifying before catalyst, or after castalyst? I am assuming catalyst means catalytic convereter. Please help.
The sensor is integrated into the exhaust manifold.

Which part do I buy?
1. Before the cat converter
2. After the cat converter
My engine is the D16Y8.

If your O2 sensor is located on the manifold, that is the one to replace.

Unless your car has the cat converter integrated into the manifold
(and I don’t believe it does) then you need to buy the one BEFORE
    the converter.

    Good Luck

jack the car up and make sure that it does not have both, some of these cars do run 2 of them, also make sure that the new ones have the same number of wires coming out of them as the old one’s.

Before the cat converter. all manifolds are before all converters integrated or not.

You don’t even know which sensor to buy, so you probably are fixing to replace a good sensor.
