Replacing Oxygen Sensor On My 2003 Ford Taurus SES. Where Is The Bank 2, Sensor 2

Posted in Oxygen Sensors | Asked on Aug 16, 2010

I already bought the oxygen sensor, I just don’t know where I need to put it :( Pictures would be EXTREMELY helpful. Thanks :)
It is a transverse engine. So passenger side/drivers side or upstream/downstream makes no sense to me.

  1. Kenny says:

It is going to be on the passenger side (right side) of the car and it will either plugged into the catalytic converter itself or it will be after the catalytic converter.

  2. Strange says:

There should be 4 sensors on your exhaust. Bank one will be the front bank (front exhaust by radiator) on this vehicle.Bank 2 will be back by the firewall.Sensor 1 is always closest too the engine. So bank 2 sensor 2 will be the exhaust by the firewall and the last sensor furthest from the engine.
Sometimes it takes heat to remove the sensor. And sometimes you can get lucky and they come right out. After you replace it you have to have the computer reset to take off the check engine light.
    Good luck

strange is right completely except when you get done if you unplug your battery over night then it will reset your check engine light

NO need to do that. Just pulling the PCM fuse for a few minutes and putting back in place in that underhood relay box is all that is needed.
