Why Is My Car Loosing Power

Posted in Internal Engine Parts | Asked on Nov 4, 2011

I have a mazda protege 1996 and it has been loosing power for about 2 months now. I have replaced the MAF, spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter. I start the car and it doesn’t want to go but the rpm’s rev up. or, as i’m driving it will start bucking and the rpm needle starts jumping. What can this be?

If the RPMs go up, that means the engine is going faster, and if the car isnt, the transmission is the culprit

The transmission could just be slipping, if its in drive and you hit the gas but it doesnt go like all that happens is that the rpms go up like they do when you hit the gas in neutral then the trans is slipping

Either crank shaft senser or idle senser. mass air flow senser.??well what ever it is good luck.
