What Do I Need To Rebuit A Toyota Corolla 96 1.8
Posted in Internal Engine Parts | Asked on Jun 25, 2010Hey i just bought the 1.8 short block. the pistons have a lot of carbon build up. and there are lots sludge around the engine. i was woundering what type cleaner do i use to wash the water jacket and the oil passeges in the block. what part do i wash. what size of ball hone do i use.and etc.

Pretty much sounds like you are in over your head.
Send the block to an automotive machine shop. They will clean it, inspect it for defects, measure all of the critical areas and machine as needed. Many will also have the capabilities to magnaflux the block to inspect for cracks.
