My A/C In The Car Sometimes Works, And After A While Of Driving, Stops Working What Causes That

Posted in Internal Engine Parts
  • Car is Acura (Vigor) in good Shape, 1993 and seems like when the A/C is On, the lights and sound is coming out of the outlet, but the air is being blown somewhere other than the interior of the Car, So I stop using it, when I park the car for a few hours it turns On and blows the Air like it should inside the room. Just wondered what I have to look for in order to start fixing it! Thanks

There may be an “Auto” setting on your AC– if there is, turn it off. IF not, then you may have a loose wire or bad position switch.

I know that some A/C systems use a ‘mixer’ or blender door in the interior to shuttle air to various parts. These valves are operated by vacuum and vacuum switching controls. Check if your car has a mixer/blender door under the dash console. YOu should be able to see it. Usually it is an disk type motor with a hose connected to it. A lever is usually operated by the motor that in turn controlls a air door. It should operated as you select various air out configurations such as defrost, floor etc.
