IMy Car Keeps Stopping While I Drive

Alright well heres my BIG problem. Up until recently it was driving ok, but now it takes forever to start, and while that is happening all I hear is it stumbling, and make a noise similar to something like a tin can being hit, then it starts, I reverse and it will stop again, I turn it on and have to drive around awhile to make sure it wont stop while I get on the main street, at red lights or a long stop it takes awhile for it to get up to the speed limit, I can’t even go uphill or it will stop if its that high, I know I can repair it myself but am stumped at where the problem may lie and I dont want to try fixing something and mess it up, (if it can mess up anymore >:/) Any advice or idea what is causing this?
Thank you for your answers, I was thinking it was something to do with the fuel inection or a vaccum leak somewhere, thats why I asked because I didnt want to go taking things off for nothing :/

I own a repair shop,and it can be messed up more than it is,,id take it to a good repair shop,and let a good mechanic drive it,,i believe it may be fuel related problems on this one,,but without seeing or hearing it run,,i really cant be sure,,get a good mechanic to look at it,don’t attempt to repair it your self,,it may be a cheap repair that can make it right again right now,,but if you go to long,,it may turn in to a major repair,,good luck hope this help,s,..PS ,have them check the spark plugs in it,,they may also need changing,,good luck hope this help,s.
Ah, I think that you should bring your car to a repair shop. I can’t figure out if it is the motor that is dead already, or if it just needs a tune-up, or the transmission is dying also. Hopefully it only needs a tune-up. Because, if it where the starter, it will not stop while running.

Well first I would say a tune up(spark plugs-wires and things like that.But It may also be a clogged catalatic converter which is more likely if you have given it a tune up already.The catalatic converter is part of your exhaust system.
What kind of car do you have?
Sounds as if the drive belt(timing)has slipped or stretched(worn) if it cuts all together and u try restarting the enngine your engine will be unrepairable
