I Shut Off My Engine While The Car Was Still In Drive Now It Stopped Moving

I accidentally forgot to put the car in park before turning the engine off now it won’t move when i put it into drive when i start it back up. Anything might be the problem? the engine still starts up fine. Here’s a total recall of what I did so you might be able to help me
I put left the car in drive and turned off the engine. With the engine still off I put it back into park. I started it back up to see if anything went wrong, it started to make noises while I put it back into drive. I hesitantly drove it a block while it was making weird noises and as soon as I stopped, drive stopped working and just wouldn’t budge. I step on the gas and all it does is rev. Could it be a loose transmission chip?

Hard to tell w/out looking at it, but check you’re linkage. Hope that helps
I’ve shut many different cars off when they were still in drive and nothing happened to them.
You have other problems but shutting it off in drive is not a problem.
The question here is, was the car still moving when you put it in park? If the vehicle was moving with the engine off, putting it into park could very possibly cause damage. If you were sitting still, it shouldn’t make any difference whether it was in park or not when you turned the engine off.
