Help With Engine Rocking

Posted in Internal Engine Parts | Asked on Nov 6, 2011

I have a 88 Mazda B-2200 short bed with 132,000. The engine recently started vibrating and stutters and now it seems to do a hesitation sometimes when accelerating. I changed my oil and filter about a week or 2 ago. Today I put in a new air filter and PCV breather filter. I am going to throw on a new fuel filter ASAP. I need to know what else I can do to help stop this.

Sounds like it is missing on at least one cylinder

Try a full tune up including new spark plugs, plug wires, and distributor cup or ignition coils.

Tuning is a good idea–however have a compression test done BEFORE the tune up while the spark plugs are out of it. If the compression is good and even between cylinders then proceed with the tune up.
