Took My Nissan Xterra For Service And They Told Me….

I have a 2000 NISSAN XTERRA and just had the head gasket replaced but the car idles a little too much when its in drive with foot on the brake…it accelerates very nicely….its got the random misfire code showing..I took it to nissan they said that the timing belts tension is too much and also they found distributor loose, stripped out bolot going to need a heli coil….Will this cause my truck to idle and misfire?

“timing belt tension too much” Don’t ever go back and find a new mechanic.

If you just had the head gasket replaced you should bring it back to the place that did the work and it should be covered under warranty. A high idle and a miss fire code are two different issues, most likely related to the head gasket job that was performed. A high idle could be due to incorrect timing. The timing belt being over tensioned I can’t see causing either of your problems. If anything it may wear out your water pump faster as well as make a whining sound. The distributor bolt being stripped is usually due to an in experienced tech that did the job. The miss fire code could be many different things from poorly adjusted/torqued valves, leaking intake, bad spark plugs, or spark plug wires, fuel injectors, etc… I’d bring it back to where the work was performed and have them do the job right. Good luck and hope this helps
