Replaced Crankshaft On Nissan Xterra. Engine Has Low Power. How Do I Tell If Timing Belt Off By One Notch

Asked on: August 6, 2010

Reduced power and readout shows faults 300 and 325. I am worried that I missed alignment on timing belt by one notch because when I turn distributor counter-clockwise it increases power, but it will not turn enough to get to full power. The engine seems normal as far as temp with no abnormal sounds. The new crankshaft fixed it bearing problem.

Man i can tell you right now that you are off by just one tooth just by what you have said you can all so tell if it is off by one if you have a little more trouble starting it that normal but i will run and sound fine just not have any power

P0300 random mulit Cyl. misfire P0325 does not exist on that nissan. Might be P0335 crank sensor located on the behind the left Cyl head in the trans belhousing may have been damaged? By using a Nissan timing belt it has a dotted line passengers side cam sprocket and two other lines left side cam sprocket and line on the crank sprocket you almost cannot get a nissan belt wrong. P0340 cam sensor and the ever popular P0327 knock sensor code that won’t set a engine light. Read the codes again and get back to us. WOW replacing a crank on a Xterria that is a hard job even for a Nissan technician to get those numbers right on the end of the crank and block numbers right so the correct bearings can be put in the right places. There is no such thing as standard size 1st oversize and 010 over size. each bearing is a combination of crank and block number size number. Nissan is more precise. How much oil pressure does the oil pump put out?
