Misfiring On All Four Cylinders 2000 Honda CRV Tried Everything Help

Posted in Ignition Systems | Asked on Aug 20, 2010

I have a honda CRV 2000 with 140,000 miles automatic transmission. I recentlyhad a new timing belt put on at the dealership ever since then our check engine light keeps coming off and on I took it back in and it came up that all four cylinders are misfiring so we have put new spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, ignition coil, and fuel filter nothing has fixed the misfire. The car seems to run fine we have noticed a slight drop in our fuel milage. What could this be? Help
So I took it back to the dealership yesterday and had them check there work on the timing belt and sure enough the timing belt was off a tooth car has never sounded so good. Thanks for all the help…

Owning a Honda, that’s what the problem is.

I know this doesn’t help but I have a 2000 acura integra gsr and I’m having the exact same problem. Have been since last december. I’ve replaced everything you have. Except instead of replacing all the distributor components like you did I replaced the entire distributor which has the tdc/ckp/cyp sensor inside. I think that sensor is the crank position and cam position sensor but anyway the new distributor didn’t fix my problem so I’m still stumped. Let me know if you figure it out and ill do the same.

This one is common so heres the answer since your codes include a p0300 multiple cylinder misfire ans maybe 301 302 303 304 the most common cause on almost all 4 cyl hondas is valve adjustment.they are adjustable on all 4 cylinders problem is most people dont have them adjusted at all and end up with burnt valves try adjusting them or have a professional do it for you (reccomended) but there is a good chance the valves are burnt–sorry for the bad news.remember they ideally should be done every 15000 or so … good luck (ps.this problem is VERY common on the crv-i have fixed this on about 40 of them

Yea i agree that’s the only bad thing with b series the damn valves. if they aren’t aligned they will burn and if they do hope it doesn’t bend. just align them and have the fuses and relays checked and you should be fine.
