Hi I Need Help With The Chevy Firing Order On The Distributor Cap

I know its 18436572 but i have a hei distributor with vacuum advance and i was wondering would you where i can find like a diagram of the distributor cap so i can connect the spark plug wires.

my distributor is not points style its hei style high electronic ignition
its a 350 but it has been stroked or bored to a 383

    theirs not a diagram but you need to go to the shop and get it fix

    should be the same with hei, you may be putting your wires on on the wrong stroke try pulling the cap and number one plug put you finger over the spark plug hole and bump engine till you fell presure then turn the crank till your 4 deg before tdc
    and your rotor will point to number one cyc on your cap then go 1843.6572 if you got any questions just ask

    pull the cap, the rotor facing # 1 plug is # 1 wire and so on

    Hmmmmm 305CID or 350CID or 400CID hmmm maybe 450CID or is it a 454CID You wern`t very specific as to what engine you are referring to. Go to your local auto parts store and get a manual for whatever your mystery engine is.

    Remove the #1 spark plug, the one in the front on the drivers side. Place your thumb or finger over the hole while a buddy bumps the starter over in short quick bursts. When it blows your finger off the hole, stop! Look at the front of the engine and turn the engine over by hand until you align the 0 or TDC with the pointer. You should only have to turn the engine a few degrees one way or the other to reach it, and marking it before hand will help. I use white out to mark it with. Once you have it at 0 degrees (TDC) top dead center, remove the distributor cap to see where the rotor is pointing when the cap is on and in place. The rotor should be real close to one of the plug wire holes in the front of the cap. Now, this is where the #1 plug wire goes. Work your way in a clockwise fashion following the firing order around the cap. The cylinders on the drivers side are 1,3,5,7, and the ones on the other side are 2,4,6,8. This is from front to back on both sides.
