Distributor Cap Wiring For A 1966 Chevy Impala 327 Cid Engine.

Posted in Ignition Systems | Asked on Jun 27, 2010

Looking for a diagram and correct order of each spark wire (correct location on cap and what spark plug it connects to).
With that in mind, please translate that into simple terms please.
Running an HEI setup from Accel. U said the firing order is 18436572, so does that mean that 1 spot on the cap should be connected to the number 1 spark plug (same for 2,3,4,etc) or something else. Please explain. Greatly appreciated it. Thanx

firing order is 18436572 the cap should have number 1 marked. 1357 cylinders are on the drivers side of the car starting from the front and 2468 or on the pass side.

18436572 is the firing order if you do not know where number one is you can bring the number one cylinder up to it’s top dead center on the compression stroke, if you get the timing mark on the harmonic balancer close to zero on the timing tap then remove the cap and see where the rotor is in relation to the cap, the rotor should be pointing towards the drivers side of the engine. 1357 is on the drivers side 2468 is on the passenger side.
