Hello i have a 93 f350 deisel just inherited it i know a little mechanics about regular unleaded engines but diesels i know are different. i want to change the fuel filter , and glow plugs. filter doesnt look hard but any tips or hints would help. the glow plugs arent hard to get to but not sure how they come out. look like they have a brake line type line going into them . any help would be appreciated. also it is starting hard just keeps turning over , i have let the glow plugs do their job and the batteries are brand new any help on that as well?

    woah!
settle down, have you got the service manual for the truck yet?
those ‘glow plugs” with the line comming from them are the injectors!
Can i suggest you get someone who is an experianced diesel mechanic to come and show you whaty to do and how to do it. It may cost you some money in the beginning, but it will save you over time and it will save a question here in 3 days like “I’ve broken the fuel line how do I remove it fully” or “I’ve replaced my injectors and when the truck runs diesel sprays everywhere under the hood!”

I agree with Dick. Diesel engines are a whole other animal. Get someone that either has a lot of experience with diesel engines or an actual diesel mechanic to show you. Most farmers have a lot of knowledge as well.

Fuel filter is a diy project…just unscrew the lid, pull the old one out and pop another one in. Use some diesel to wet the new gasket and follow the directions. Glow plugs…I’d let a mechanic do that. Join us over at superdutydiesel.com to learn some more information. I have found that with yahoo answers everyone wants to answer about diesel engines when all they know is either gas or nothing at all.
