Well, first off, the glow plugs were not a real logical solution, the glow plugs intended use are to heat the cylinder head so that it is a warmer environment when trying to compress the air so that the fuel will ignite when injected. Some will say your glow plug system being faulty could cause this, I think its highly unlikely, but beyond that, there are a number of things that could cause this. Have your starter tested, there is a chance that your starter is heating up while driving, maybe a short, maybe just engine block heat, but if it is faulty, it could work just fine for start up, then drag and turn too slow when it has heated up. This is where i would start off checking at.

Do not use starting fluid to try to solve this problem. Starting fluid is NOT the repair for anything. Spraying Ether (Starting Fluid) into the intake will help the engine to turn over as it is highly flammable and will be a sure fire way to get combustion in the cylinders. Starting fluid is great for a few things: 1. The cold morning when you didn’t plug in the block heater 2. When you experience trouble starting due to uncontrollable situations 3. Glow Plugs or relay or control switch went bad and you need to start the truck and its cold or cool outside. It is never a good idea to continuously use starting fluid to start an engine, it will cause engine damage if used regularly.
try spraying starter fluid in air intake when it wont start, computer is usaully located on passenger sidewall behind panel
