1992 Ford F250 Wont Turn Over With The Key

Posted in Ignition Systems | Asked on Aug 16, 2010

I have a F350 and A F250 this just started on both, so now when you turn the key to start, the accessories come on and the glow plugs do their thing but when you go to start it it does nothing, now I am able to go to the solonoid thing that the key puts juice to to start it, what i do is put a screw driver to jump the electric to where its supposed to go and the truck turns over and starts i could do this to get around but i would have to do this every time, if you’ve seen this and know what it is let me know asap thanx!

well its either the starter relay, a wiring problem, or you need a new switch

so it’s not the starter solenoid, must be in the key switch or steering column, maybe one of the safety interlocks, brake or transmission..

Do you have tilt steering on these trucks? If so could be the link in the column, have seen a few of these break and then not be able to push the switch all the way to the start position. Are these manual transmissions? If so could be the clutch push rod bushing worn out and not allowing the rod to fully activate the clutch/starter interlock switch.
