Below is the question about Camaro Has Gas In The Oil Really Need Help Please,

I have a 1980 z28 with a 5.7 liter 350 with an 8 quart oil pan we bought the car about a year ago when we got it we found out that it had way too big of a carburetor for a stock engine its i think a 750 cfm edelbrock but we have never driven we would just start it up and let it run for a while so i just drove it down the road yesterday and when i got back we checked the oil looked dirty but then i smelled it the oil smelled like straight gas almost ..so i changed the oil put stp oil treatment in it and stp smoke treatment then i drove the car about 30 miles and i smell a little gas in it but i never changed the filter (cause stores were closed) so i want to know if this is the rings or is it possible that since the carburetor is way to big it could be flooding and somehow forcing gas into the oil from having so much gas sprayed into it….and the car has no guts sluggish but the carb being to big is that problem i think ?

This can get serious real fast. With the air cleaner off, and the car idling look down into the carb venturi or “throat” and see if gas is trickling down. If it is the float is stuck or set too high. Also is the choke plate fully open when the engine is warm, if it isn’t the choke pull off isn’t working, or plate is binding. If you are unsure of what I mean get a mechanic to look at it for you.

First off it was prolly due to the old owner but you need to change the filter and now the oil again bcz now you have contaminated the oil again once you do that and get a stock carb you will be fine if not email me back and let me know what happens and ill help you as much as i can without seein the car.. good luck

Could be a handfull of things.
mech. fuel pump going/went bad and leaking gas into the pump’s oil well

Floats not adjusted right (7/16″ at rest, 15/16″ drop)

Too much fuel pressure. Check it any more than 5.5 psi and the edelbrock carbs trys to flood, pushes the needles out of the seats.
