In Desperate Need Of Some Help With My 98 Chevy Camaro
Posted in Crank, Oil and Piston | Asked on Jun 4, 2010My problems began with a spun main bearing. In the process of detachment that we replace at the end of the crankshaft, heads, piston rings, main bearings, oil pump, water pump, all gaskets, new oil filter, new battery, spark plugs and wires. The problem we have is the oil pressure. When you first start it runs around 60, after about 15-20min it will drop to 35, and then after about 30-45 minutes it will drop to 0. We have replaced almost everything and it still does not stay above. We just listed out the sump and the main camp and forth. There was also a very thin shavings of metal in the oil pan. Again we have to replace almost all of these components. The only thing we did was not to replace the connecting rod. What have we done wrong and how can we fix this error. We all have done this work.

the o rings on the push rods need replaced
also check for a crack in the heads
you can lose alot of oil pressure from bad cam bearings and if you go through the bottom end why not resize the rods? its best to go through every thing right the first time to hinder future problems.
Did you keep track of the bearing caps and connecting rod caps to put them back exactly where they came from. Are they facing the right directions.Did you plastigage every bearing for clearance issues. You have a lot of clearance somewhere.
