Best answer for Does My 1982 Camaro Need Catalytic Converters To Pass Inspection

Federal law requires that any car that had a catalytic converter at the time of manufacture always has a converter. Most states that inspect cars will check for the presence of converter(s). All cars manufactured for sale in the U.S. after 1974 are required to have a catalytic converter.
