Replacing The CV Boot On A 1999 Accord. .
Posted in Axles & Driveshaft | Asked on Sep 1, 2010I need to replace the CV boots on my 1999 honda accord. I’ve received mixed information on whether i need to replace just the boots, or the entire shaft and axle assembly? I’m trying to determine what is necessary, overall the car is in excellent condition and i would like to keep it that way with out doing any unnecessary work.

Just change the shafts. About $70. each at O’Reilly/CSK. Much easier and it will give you peace of mind.
Edit: No additional work required.
Considering the amount of work in trying to change the boot, if it is old enough to crack – better change the whole thing. it has probably been running with no grease and lots of dirt for a while.
