Civic Transmission Problems…what To Do
Posted in Axles & Driveshaft | Asked on Sep 8, 2010When in stupid Cleveland last winter I hit a huge pothole that slammed the car big time. It was at night so I didn’t know it was even coming up! This is on a 97 Civic EX. Well, a few weeks later I started getting a metal griding sound in the front left of the car when I would make accelerated left hand turns. The sound progressively got worse to where it was doing it any time I was making left turns. I finally had it to a shop where they said it was my left wheel bearing…which they replaced for $400! A week later the grinding noise is happening again, but not as bad…only when making left turns. Now it appears that the center differential bearings in the tranny are screwed up. Honda dealership won’t replace just those parts, they will only change the whole tranny if I got a used one….used one’s seem to be about $2000. The car was only bought for $6,000…is this just too much hassle? Should I just get a new car and forget my current one? Lost cause? Stupid Cleveland!
Cleveland is stupid….lived there for 2 years….all there is to do is drink, be b*tchy, and hit potholes.

Hmmm…. You might be able to get a used transmission for alot cheaper and put it in yourself, or beg the shop to put it in, if they do they wont guarantee anything to work….
Since you called CLEVELAND stupid, I can’t answer your question.
