    Is the coolant level full?

There are some thermostats for the fans. Usually one fan will always kick on when the A/C comes on and the other runs in response to the coolant temperature …if the A/C is off, then both fans may respond to coolant temperature.

I would do a little troubleshooting. Start the car and let it warm up (don’t let it overheat). At least one fan should run as the coolant reaches a preset value. While the engine is warming turn on the A/C; at least one fan should switch on. Turn the A/C off. Watch the temp gauge and listen for the fan to come on.

Make note of what happened as this will greatly help the shop when you bring it in. It sounds like maybe there’s some thermostat(s) that are not working correctly ….might even be something with the engine management computer.
